Why is Jigsaw giving away its company data for free?Just as open source software transformed the software industry and Wikipedia transformed the encyclopedia business, Jigsaw will transform the BtoB data industry by making company data open, transparent and free.
What's the catch?
There is no catch. Jigsaw's data is free for you to download and use. Jigsaw makes it revenue in other ways such as selling subscriptions to our contacts and
cleaning and maintaining data. By giving away company data we hope more people will purchase our other services.
What am I not allowed to do with this data?
Sell it, or put it on your website and make money from it. You must purchase a license from Jigsaw to use the data in this manner. You can learn more in the
Terms of Use.
How does this data get built and maintained?
By Jigsaw's community of over 1 million members. Jigsaw's community quickly responds to changes and additions in both company and contact data making Jigsaw's information accurate and fresh. Everyone brings a few pieces of the puzzle to collaboratively build and maintain the database.
What is a data dinosaur?
Any data company that builds and maintains its own database instead of having a community do it better and faster.
How do I import data this into my CRM or Contact Management system?
Two ways: Download Jigsaw company data into one of the leading CRM and Content Management solutions CSV formats or integrate your application with Jigsaw's open APIs.
Why do I have to have a premium membership to export records to Salesforce?
Importing directly into Salesforce is a Premium feature that requires investment from Jigsaw in order to connect directly with their system. If you do not want a premium subscription you can still export to Salesforce via CSV file for free.
What if my CRM solution isn't listed?
Contact your CRM solution and tell them you want them to integrate with the Open Data Initiative! For more information you can also contact support@jigsaw.com.
Why can I only download 50,000 records at one time?
Limiting the number of records available in one download prevents our systems from getting overloaded. You can download as many groups of 50,000 records as you need.
How often can I download records?
As often as you like, provided you use the data per the Terms of Use.
How do I get contacts for the company records?
Both free and premium subscribers have access to the over 17 million complete contact records in Jigsaw. Click on the Find Contacts link in the top nav bar to begin your search.
How can I add or update my own company information?
Once you become a free or premium Jigsaw member, you may update or add company information. NOTE: If you work at a large company your ability to update company information might be restricted. Learn more.
Some of the data is wrong - what do I do?
Correct it and earn Jigsaw points--points you can redeem for contact data! This is what makes Jigsaw such a powerful model - it is self correcting. See the update leaders.
When will you have more international data?
As soon as we can get the time to code it and members start to add it! Soon we hope, and appreciate your patience. Let us know what countries you'd most like to see on Jigsaw on the Jigsaw Message Boards.
